Dr Syed Harun serves in the Government of Singapore as Senior Parliamentary Secretary for the Ministry of Education (MOE) and Ministry of National Development (MND).
At MOE, his focus areas include mental wellbeing and special educational needs both in Singapore’s mainstream and special education schools. He is also Chairperson of the Malay Language Learning & Promotion Committee. At MND, he focuses on rental housing, home ownership support and social support services, as well as engagements with the Built Environment sector.
He is a member of the Steering Committee for Mental Health and Well-being, the Inter-Ministry Committee on Drug Prevention for Youths and the Inter-Agency Taskforce on Assurance for Families with Persons with Disabilities.
