Where is the WorldSkills Conference being held?
WorldSkills Conference 2026 is held onsite during WorldSkills Shanghai 2026, at the National Exhibition and Convention Center (NECC), Shanghai, China. The Conference is in Hall 4.2. The answers below give directions and entry points.
How do I get to the NECC?
How you get to the NECC depends on whether you’re travelling with an official Conference package or arriving independently.
With an official Conference package
Shuttle buses run between the official Conference hotels and Hall 4.2 each day. Timetables are displayed in your hotel lobby.
Arriving by metro or taxi
- Nearest metro station: take Metro Line 17 or Line 2 to NECC station, Exit 15, then proceed to the North Plaza security checkpoint.
- Taxi drop-off and pick-up: designated taxi points at the NECC are marked on venue signage.
- On foot from the drop-off: follow the signposted route from the taxi point to Hall 4.2. Approximate walking time is 15 minutes.
How do I obtain my accreditation?
Where you collect your badge depends on how your accommodation was booked.
Staying in an official event hotel
Collect at your hotel. An accreditation desk is located in the hotel – collect your badge and welcome bag when you check in. There is no need to travel to the Accreditation Centre.
Own accommodation
Collect at the Accreditation Centre. Please approach the dedicated “Conference” counter.

Bring your passport
You will need it to collect your badge, whether at your hotel or at the Accreditation Centre. Collect your welcome bag at the same time.
Your badge is your key to the event. Wear it, protect it, and report it immediately if it goes missing. Without your badge you will not pass the North Plaza security checkpoint or enter Hall 4.2.
How do I get to the Accreditation Centre?
The Accreditation Centre is located at No 200, Lane 1588, Zhuguang Road, Qingpu District. The opening timings are 09:00–18:00.
By metro
Take Metro Line 2 to National Exhibition and Convention Center station, then walk to the Accreditation Centre at No 200, Lane 1588, Zhuguang Road.
By public bus
Take bus 776, 797, or 1512, or the Xujing No 2 or Xujing No 5 bus, and get off at Zhuguang Road and Yinggang East Road. Then walk to No 200, Lane 1588, Zhuguang Road.
By taxi
Get out at the main gate of the Primus Hotel, No 100, Lane 1588, Zhuguang Road. Then walk to the Accreditation Centre at No 200, Lane 1588, Zhuguang Road.
How do I access the venue on Day 1 (23 September)?
If you collected your badge before 23 September
- Official hotel: a shuttle service takes you to the North Plaza security checkpoint.
- Own accommodation: Metro Line 17 or Line 2 to NECC station, Exit 15, then proceed to the North Plaza security checkpoint.
If you still need to collect your badge
- Go to the P2 car park: present your passport to collect your badge. Collection is 08:00–09:15; the car park closes at 09:15.
- Then, a shuttle runs from the P2 car park to the North Plaza security checkpoint.
For everyone
- North Plaza security screening: 08:00–09:45.
- Shuttle to the venue from North Plaza to Hall 4.2, Gate 4.
Please note: possible traffic restrictions
There may be temporary traffic restrictions on roads surrounding the NECC during the morning of 23 September. Contingency transport arrangements have been prepared for visitor arrivals:
- At NECC station (Metro Line 17): volunteers will be stationed at the station exit to guide you to designated shuttle buses, which will take you to the North Square of the NECC for security screening before entering the venue.
- At the P2 Parking Area: if you are arriving by metro, private vehicle, taxi, ride-hailing vehicle, or coach, volunteers may guide you to the P2 Parking Area, where a dedicated shuttle will take you to the NECC North Square for security screening and venue entry.
Final timings will be confirmed closer to the event. Please allow extra time on the morning of 23 September.
How do I get to the West Hall for the Opening Ceremony (23 September)?
The Conference Opening Ceremony will be held in the West Hall of the National Exhibition and Convention Center (NECC) on 23 September. This is your route from Hall 4.2 through to West Hall:
- Shuttle drop-off at Hall 4.2 via Gate 4.
- Go to the check-in area to sign in.
- Leave any bags at the storage point.
- Take a break in the coffee-break area.
- Exit Hall 4.2 via Gate 17.
- Walk to North Gate 2 to enter West Hall.
In view of the attendance of a high-level state leader from the People’s Republic of China, all participants are required to arrive between 08:00 and 09:30 to complete security procedures. We strongly advise you to plan your journey accordingly and allow sufficient time.
How do I access the venue on Day 2 (24 September) and Day 3 (25 September)?
Access on Day 2 and Day 3 is more straightforward than Day 1: all Conference activity takes place at Hall 4.2, with no separate routing to West Hall or Opening Ceremony arrangements to plan for.
Standard daily access
- Official hotel: a shuttle service takes you to the North Plaza security checkpoint.
- Own accommodation: Metro Line 17 or Line 2 to NECC station, Exit 15, then proceed to the North Plaza security checkpoint.
- Shuttle to the venue: from North Plaza to Hall 4.2.
Unlike Day 1, there are no P2 car park badge-collection arrangements or traffic-restriction contingencies to plan for on Day 2 and Day 3.
Can WorldSkills Conference attendees visit the WorldSkills Competition 2026 as part of the programme?
Yes. WorldSkills Conference attendees have access to all four days of the WorldSkills Competition. Guided tours will be available as part of the Conference programme.
Is there access to the Conference for media?
Accredited media of WorldSkills Shanghai 2026 will be invited to request access to the Opening and Closing plenary sessions. A limited number of platform and seated positions are available for those sessions for accredited media. Access to individual sessions for accredited media is available upon request. All accredited media will receive instructions by email on how to apply for access.
Internet access at the venue
Free internet access will be available throughout the venue for all attendees. Please note that mainland China restricts access to many international email, social media, and communication services – including Gmail and other international email providers, WhatsApp, Facebook, Instagram, and Google services. International attendees will be provided with access to these services throughout the Conference.
Agenda, sessions, and format
Is there an option to join any of the sessions virtually?
Some sessions will be recorded and made available on the WorldSkills YouTube channel after the Conference.
Do I need to register for individual sessions?
No. There is no need to register for individual Conference sessions – attendance is on a first-come, first-served basis.
The exceptions are Skills CoLab and field trips, which both require pre-booking through the Conference App.
Are there special arrangements for the Opening Plenary?

How do I book a field trip?
Field trips are booked through the Conference App:
- Download the official Conference App.
- Open the app and access the Conference section.
- Go to the Field Trips section – you will be prompted to log in using your email.
- Choose your preferred field trip.
- Click “Register” to confirm your place.
How do I book a place at Skills CoLab?
Skills CoLab meetings are booked through the Conference App:
- Download the official Conference App.
- Open the app and access the Conference section.
- Go to the Skills CoLab section – you will be prompted to log in using your email.
- Browse the 26 selected projects and choose which ones you’d like to meet.
- Select your preferred session round and click “Book” to confirm your place.

What is the Conference Reception?
The Conference Reception is an evening networking event where attendees connect in an informal setting and celebrate the WorldSkills Conference. It will take place at Shanghai World Expo Exhibition & Convention Center.
How do I download the official Conference App?
The official event app for WorldSkills Shanghai 2026 is now available, with availability varying by device:
Apple (iOS)

WeChat and AliPay
If you have either app installed, you can access the Conference features as a mini-programme. You don’t need a separate download. Open WeChat or AliPay and scan the QR code within the app. Alternatively, you can search for “WSS2026”. This will download the app in Chinese – you can then change the language manually.

Available now on the Xiaomi Store for users with access to Xiaomi devices/store.
Samsung Store rollout for Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Kuwait, Brazil, Singapore, Indonesia, and Thailand is in progress.
Google Play release is pending — we don’t yet have a confirmed date. If it’s not currently available in your region’s Play Store, please check back, or use the Samsung/Xiaomi Store options above if applicable to your device.

Once downloaded, open the app and access the Conference section using your email address. This lets you share basic information about yourself, engage with other participants, and book Skills CoLab meetings and field trips.

I’m already registered with a package for WorldSkills Shanghai 2026, how do I add access to the WorldSkills Conference to my package?
Registration is closed.
Eligible WorldSkills package holders were able to add the Conference as an add-on to their existing package. WorldSkills Official Delegates and those receiving complimentary access have access included in their accreditation badge.
As a WorldSkills Member or Global Partner, will I receive complimentary tickets?
Registration is closed.
