Laura Conheady is the Vice President of the Teachers’ Union of Ireland (TUI). The TUI represents 23,000 teachers and lecturers across post-primary schools, further education and training, and Ireland’s technological universities.
A Construction Studies and Graphics teacher, she has taught Post Primary and Post Leaving Certificate students and is currently teaching in Carlow Institute of Further Education. Laura also chaired the TUI’s Further Education Sub-Committee, served on its Finance Sub-Committee, and acted as the union’s liaison to the Adult Education Officers’ Association and AONTAS. She sits on the national Apprenticeship Working Party, where her focus is promoting apprenticeship programmes and addressing skills shortages.
She has represented TUI members before the Oireachtas, the Department of Education, SOLAS, and at the ICTU Biennial Conference.
