This session presents the preliminary findings of the Africa Skills Landscape (ASL), an initiative led by the African Union Commission (AUC), UNIDO, WorldSkills, and UNESCO to conduct a collaborative mapping of externally supported TVET initiatives across the continent. It examines how development partners, governments, development finance institutions, donors, and young people can use a clearer picture of ongoing and forthcoming efforts to strengthen coordination, identify complementarities, and support more strategic investments in TVET.
The discussion brings together perspectives from the AUC, the governments of Zimbabwe and Malawi, UNIDO, GIZ, and a youth representative to reflect on the trends, approaches, and gaps emerging from the mapping. It will consider how international cooperation can support national and continental priorities, such as the African Continental TVET Strategy 2025–2034.
Across these perspectives, the session asks: What does the ASL mapping make visible about TVET cooperation across Africa, and how can the AUC, African governments, and international partners turn these insights into stronger coordination, more complementary investments, and practical collaboration that advances TVET across the continent?
