Project description
Most career guidance systems ask young people what they want to be. SkillCompass asks who they are first. Developed through a four-partner consortium in Serbia (JOB INFO Center Association, Infostud, gateway.one, and NIRAS International Consulting), SkillCompass is a pioneering digital-human career matching ecosystem supported by Swiss Development Cooperation. The project addresses a persistent gap in vocational guidance: the disconnect between young people’s self-understanding and labour market realities.
At its core, three scientifically validated diagnostic tools — WayFi, IdentyFi, and Basic Check — assess vocational personality traits, interests, and competencies, going far beyond conventional career questionnaires. Developed by Swiss specialists, these tools provide an evidence-based foundation for career decision-making grounded in psychometric research.
What makes SkillCompass distinct is its hybrid model. Digital diagnostic results are not delivered in isolation; they are interpreted by trained career counsellors across a national network of 11 Job Info Centres. Technology delivers precision; counsellors deliver context and personalized guidance. This combination ensures that young people receive both data-driven insight and human support at a critical transition point.
The model further integrates with Serbia’s largest job matching platform, directly connecting diagnostic outcomes to real vacancies and employer needs. This closes the loop from self-discovery to employment opportunity.
Already operational across Serbia and reaching thousands of young people, SkillCompass offers a modular, scalable blueprint for modernizing career guidance in any national context. The consortium welcomes international partners to co-develop and adapt this approach worldwide.
