Building on the Global Skills Academy (GSA) Spotlight Session held at WorldSkills Conference 2024 in Lyon, France, UNESCO will organize a follow-up session in Shanghai that shifts from awareness-raising to implementation.
As economies are reshaped by digitalization, artificial intelligence (AI), and the green transition, the session will demonstrate how the GSA can scale industry-linked, digital, green, and AI-related learning opportunities through partnerships among governments, TVET institutions, employers, and technology firms. Aligned with the Conference theme “Shaping a skills-driven future”, the discussion will focus on practical models for equitable access, recognition of learning, and localized pathways from skills acquisition to employability, entrepreneurship and lifelong learning.
Through the GSA, UNESCO connects a global portfolio of skills opportunities — including certification programmes and international mobility pathways such as the China POCY Group scholarship — with national priorities.
The format will combine concise, evidence-based inputs, partner perspectives and an interactive exchange aimed at identifying concrete follow-up actions. The session will explore how to translate partnerships into scalable implementation and strengthen inclusive, future-ready skills systems in AI-driven economies.
