AI, skills, and the future of TVET

Artificial intelligence is reshaping Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET), from how curricula and qualifications are developed to how learning itself is delivered. This session examines the balance between innovation and equity: the potential of AI to strengthen TVET, the barriers, and the risks. Discussion will include the gap between informal use of AI, often standing in the way of ethical and regulated use, as well as the enabling conditions institutions need to get it right. The throughline is simple: AI only strengthens TVET when equity is a design requirement from the start, not an afterthought.
