At the close of the Conference, in front of more than 1,000 delegates, the WorldSkills Conference 2026 Shanghai Declaration was presented. It outlined a collective commitment to champion skills as the building blocks of sustainable human development.
The WorldSkills Conference 2026 Declaration, Shanghai, entitled “Skills for an empowered future: Building an inclusive development landscape” was endorsed by Members at WorldSkills General Assembly 2026 earlier this week, and was shared with the skills community at the Conference yesterday.
In his closing speech, David Hoey, CEO of WorldSkills International, encouraged “every government, every institution, every educator, every partner to act on what they’ve seen and heard this week”.
He continued, “The Shanghai Declaration carries the spirit of this Conference into commitments we all can take home with us — investing in people, raising the value and visibility of skills, and making sure every young person has the chance to build their future through them.”
